Marrakech Magic Theater

Perfect For a Fun Date or a Fun Night Out with the Family!

If you like a bit of prestidigitation with your pinot or some sleight-of-hand with your hummus or you simply like to eat great Middle Eastern food and watch a top shelf magician amaze and astound you, then you must check out the San Francisco Magic Theater. This unique drinking and dining experience can be found next to and/or in the Marrakech Restaurant at 419 O’Farrell Street in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District.

The Marrakech Magic Theater is an intimate performance space next door to the restaurant that has been delighting Bay Area residents and visitors for more than 30 years. Owner and world-class magician Peter Morrison often begins entertaining guests while they savor drinks and appetizers from next door in his Sultan’s Oasis Lounge. After an hour or so of prepping his guests, Morrison then personally seats each of the lucky 42 ticket holders in the Magic Theater, where the real magic show begins. Guests report that in addition to being a fine magician, Morrison is also an accomplished comic and showman, who often requires audience members to help him perform tricks.

Apparently, helping Morrison is no small feat, as in many cases, guests are laughing so hard that they are unable to assist with the tricks. Ever the consummate performer, Morrison nevertheless pulls off the tricks with panache, making audience members wonder if the botched trick was planned or if he if is so good that he can make the trick work in any number of ways. The main show runs around 75 minutes and involves sleight-of-hand magic tricks, amazing feats of mentalism, a healthy helping of humor and is, by all accounts, a helluva good time.

Show times for the Magic Theater are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 and are sold exclusively online or by telephone at 800-838-3006. Audience members aged 7 and up are welcome, but due to the intimacy of the performance space, Mr. Morrison requests children younger than 7 not attend his shows.
