Bouquets to Art Floral Exhibition

For World-Class Flowers and Flower Arrangements, Visit the de Young Museum

For five days each March, gardeners in the Bay Area and beyond head to Golden Gate Park for the Bouquets to Art floral exhibition at the de Young Museum. For more than 30 years, many of the top flower growers and flower arrangers have gathered at the de Young to showcase their talents and revel in the natural beauty and endless variety of color and form of flowers. The exhibition usually runs for around five days and features many different things to see and do, including:

  • The Opening Night Gala and Preview
Tickets for the Opening Night Gala start at $200 but some say that’s a small price to pay to stroll the galleries of the de Young with some of the world’s leading flower growers and floral designers. Guests can enjoy live music and other entertainment while they savor complimentary drinks and gourmet food, as well as the floral arrangements on the walls created by world-famous painters.
  • Floral Design Demonstrations
A much more affordable $40 allows you to see demonstrations conducted by some of the world’s leading floral designers. This ticket also includes admission to the de Young but those attending one or more of the demonstrations are cautioned to dress warmly, as the auditorium is kept quite cool to preserve the freshness of the flowers.
  • Catered Luncheons
Guests who purchase a $60 ticket to one of the catered luncheons held in the Piazzoni Murals Room get to eat a sumptuous while they admire the art on the walls and the living art arranged in the vases on the tables. This ticket also includes admission to the museum but seating is limited so purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended.
  • Art Activities for Kids
The next generation of flower aficionados is treated to many different types of flower-centric activities designed to inspire and cultivate their creative side in a fun and comfortable atmosphere.
  • Much More!

Tickets for some of the events are not inexpensive but for flower lovers this is a small price to pay to see, smell, and appreciate flowers at the absolute peak of their beauty. They also get to see tips from professional arrangers and apply them to flowers from their home gardens. If you love flowers and live or are planning to visit the Bay Area in March, this annual event is certainly worthy of your consideration.
