Bay Area Brew Festival

Bend an Elbow and a Story or Two!

The Bay Area in general and San Francisco in particular have been famous for the beers brewed here at least as long as the surrounding area has been famous for winemaking. Beer aficionados know all about San Francisco breweries and reach for brews that have been made here for more than one hundred years. California wines are some of the best in the world but when it comes to slaking thirst, for many folks, only a well-crafted beer will do! Each January, thousands of discriminating beer drinkers descend on the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason to sample some of the area’s finest brews, eat great food, hang out with friends and family and generally have a wonderful time at the Bay Area Brew Festival. Attendees can look forward the following delights:

  • Dozens of local, regional and international beers
  • Culinary delights from some of San Francisco’s best food trucks
  • Great costumes worn by individuals and teams, many with innovative beverage delivery systems incorporated into them
  • DJs and dancing
  • A photo booth for documenting the experience
  • Unlimited beer sampling
  • Impromptu singing
  • The random acts of silliness and hilarity that tend to occur at such events

Intrigued and thirsty? It’s perfectly understandable. If you’d like to attend this year’s festival, it’s best to plan ahead, as tickets usually sell out early. General admission tickets are $40 and allow unlimited sampling from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. For $50, you can buy the VIP pass, which allows an earlier start on the unlimited sampling at 1 p.m. This is a 21 and older event and parking is quite limited. Given the nature of the event, you’re probably better off taking mass transportation, a cab or a limo to the event and home again.
