First of all I'd like to thank everyone for their comments to my story although the majority of the people who don't believe it send very rude, hateful and obscene comments...please do your homework and read the papers before being so ignorant and close-minded...read this response and follow upon it if you like:

KC, I just read your page and think you should immediately call Gary Gorski Attorney at Law 916-455-3585. He is currently working on four cases just like yours including an officer getting fired for reporting it. If you want some help or could give a statement to help these other victims it could be sweet revenge for you.

Good luck and hope to hear from you.

Caroline,

what did he report?

KC

KC,
He testified in a trial that he witnessed excessive force (on a regular basis) in the jail and out in the field. The next day he was told that they no longer needed his services. He was a reserve officer. It was the Big Linda Anthony case October 1995. Look it up...
Anthony v. County of Sacramento.

Now on to my story

In 1988 some friends of mine and I went river rafting on the Sacramento river. Our raft sprung a leak and we pulled over to the side. Since we never made it to the destination where we were to be picked up at, we met some people on the riverside who were partying with a keg and asked if anyone could give us a ride. Fortunately we found someone who lived just down the street from our house. He gave us a ride home and we chatted for a while. I decided I was going to ride my motorcycle downtown to pick up my pay check at work and this guy "James" told me that he would take me in his car. Since I had a few drinks in me I agreed to have him drive.

Once there James pulled in the alley besides my place of work. He waited for me there while I went inside. When I came out there was a cop talking to him. He said that he couldn't park there and James said that he was just waiting for me. He looked over and pointed at me waiting there. The cop said ok and *then* I got in the car. Then the cop came back and said, wait a minute...let me see your I.D... James motioned that he was putting his hand in his back pocket but instead put his hand on the gearshift. The cop grabbed him around the neck and james pulled away. I looked back and saw the cop getting up and pointing his gun at us. I was screaming and yelling for James to let me out of the car. We came to the train bridge and there was a train going across. I was just about to get out when we were surrounded by 3 police cars.

The cops pulled James out of the car. I got out and sat on the hood. all of the cops screamed at me to get back in the car...I did. Later they were walking me to the car and I asked them if they were going to arrest me. They said, "no, we just want to ask you a few questions" and then slammed me against the car and bent my arm behind my back. Surprised at this I resisted and got out of the arm lock (I'm 5'7" and 150lbs...how can I get out of a police arm lock? They let me, that's why!)

At the police station two cops (man and woman) were walking me down the hall and the cop who bent my arm behind my back was approaching us. I said, "what do you call that back there, police brutality?" The two cops "gave"me to him and he took me into an empty cell. He started pushing me around (while I still had the cuffs on) and put my head in the toilet. He then hit and kicked me and I said, "look at you, you like this!" He had crazy eyes and a grin on his face and was sweating. He said, "you gonna say anything about this?" I said no. He took me out of the cell and there were other deputies there when I screamed, "Hey! This guys kicking my ass in here!" The cop turned me around and took me back into the cell. This time he was on top of me and choking me. He kept saying over and over again, "You gonna say anything! You gonna say anything!" I was crying and I couldn't breathe. The only thing that came out of my mouth was a high pitched (from strangulation) "NO!" He took me out of the cell and to the booking officer. I waited till he was out of the room when I told the cop that he just beat me. The cop said nothing so I continued to yell it out loud. All the others around me being arrested were saying, "shhh, you better be quiet or they'll come back and do it again." (Like it happens there all the time).

I was then taken by 3 or 4 cops to a cell and they rubbed their shoes in my face and all laughed. I said, "look at you guys...you're all sick!" They only laughed again. Later, they put me in a cell with others and then spent the night there. Just before being released I was read the charges against me...resisting arrest, period. I asked the officer if she had ever heard of anyone being arrested for resisting arrest alone and she said no.

When it came time for me to be arraigned, my public (pretender) defender advised me to plead "no contest" because I could get a year in jail. I stupidly and angrily took his advice. I never went to the next court date and was never issued a warrant for my arrest. I suppose the judge read my complaint against the police department and dismissed all charges.

Even though I filed a complaint, I never heard from the Internal Investigators again.

------------------

Summary
-------------------

This cop left fingerprints bruised on my neck, stuck my head in the toilet and kept beating me until I swore I wouldn't say anything. The two (assisting) arresting officers literally "gave" me to him to take into a cell and torture.

I was given the runaround from the police department while trying to obtain this information. Internal affairs never called me back once to hear my complaint after the incident had occurred. Even the public defender warned that if I didn't plead "no contest,
" I could receive a year in jail.

If I were the one who had strangled and beaten the cop, wouldn't the FBI still be looking for me to this day? FOR SURE! When I have both sides of the story, I will publish it on the 'Net.

He got away with what he did and the incident still gives me nightmares and I occasionally feel physical pain from the incident that happened so long ago.

The whole precinct knows what really happened and (in my opinion) the precinct is running rampant with police brutality.

If you have also been brutally beaten by the Sacramento Police, (or any police department for that matter) please Sign My Guest Book and I will publish your story on my site as well and anonymous if you like.

My uncle is a judge, my family asked him to help with this case but I guess it gets pretty scary when your in this line of business, you have to watch your back.

Like I said, as soon as I acquire the police report, I will publish the entire story (both sides) on this page. And if *you* are the sicko cop that did this to me (and others?), keep an eye out for me on the net.

I am not saying that all law enforcement officials are corrupt, but if we keep turning our backs to these crimes we will never learn how to deal with criminals as well as innocent victims such as myself.

I have been warned by my mother and a few of my colleagues (and I'm sure to be warned by others) of the danger that I am getting myself into by posting this web page.

The way I see it is that I am one of the first on the internet of hundreds and thousands of stories of police brutality to come that will eventually end up on the internet .

Whatever may happen to one who publishes a story of government corruption on the internet, will always have a web page or newsgroup to post a follow up on!

Once the world is connected, I believe that whatever one does in life, (if serious enough) will end up on the web for all eyes of the world to see. And web pages can always be archived :)

Whatever happens, don't give up and plead "no contest" if you truly believe you are innocent, because you will live to regret it like I have.
